The impact of enterprise digital capability on employee job performance: From the perspective of employee learning

Abstract:

From the perspective of employee learning, this study focuses on employees who have been through enterprise digital transformation and aims to establish the theoretical linkage between employees’ perceived enterprise digital capability and their job performance. A multi-wave survey featuring 433 full-time Chinese employees was conducted to test the hypotheses. Path analysis results show that employee learning and unlearning mediate the relationship between their perceived digital capability and job performance, respectively. Communication feedback strengthens the positive effects of perceived enterprise digital capability on learning, as well as on unlearning. The integrated moderated mediation model was also validated. This study contributes to the literature on digital transformation and highlights employee learning-related organizational management issues, and sheds light upon the practice of enterprise digital transformation.
